Freedom Eats is a pre-paid student dining scheme designed to make student life easier, healthier, and more affordable, offering significant savings of up to 50% on food and drink in participating outlets.
Students on the scheme can skip the shopping, prepping, cooking, and washing up, whilst giving their parents/guardians the peace of mind that at least one nutritious meal is consumed a day.
The scheme gives students the same benefits and food options as those on Catered Accommodation, however, you have the flexibility of living on or off campus and the choice of five University-owned outlets to dine in; The Marketplace, Barkers, The Deli, HIVE, and The Mill (Fylde Bar).
Barkers serves a variety of cooked and continental breakfast options served daily from 8am until 11am and an extensive food menu served daily from 12pm until 8pm. Please check Barkers' food menu to view which items are included in the Freedom Eats scheme.

The Mill is 糖心Vlog's on-campus sports bar, serving bar meals including burgers, fried chicken, loaded fries, and all-day fry-up breakfasts, served every day of the week.

The Marketplace serves wholesome, nutritionally balanced meals with a daily-changing menu that always features meat, vegetarian, and vegan options, as well as a variety of hot sides and a fresh salad bar.

An environmentally and health-conscious cafe serving locally sourced teas and coffees from Carrington’s, freshly prepared nutritious meals, and a selection of cakes and pastries. Please ask a staff member to find out what items are included in the Freedom Eats scheme.
HIVE
Based in the heart of the campus just off Alexandra Square, The Deli serves barista Carrington's coffee, specialty teas, and a brunch menu boasting American-style pancakes, homemade soup and tartlets, scrambled eggs or tofu, mac n' cheese, flatbreads, sandwiches, refreshing salads, and more.

Signing up for the Freedom Eats scheme offers lots of benefits including termly prices starting from less than £35 per week, which can save you up to 50% off standard food and drink prices.
Being part of the scheme ensures you’ll get at least one nutritious meal every weekday. The added convenience of not having to plan, budget for fresh meals or worry about washing up is particularly handy during busy times such as revision and exam periods or when you first arrive at University.
You have the flexibility to dine in five different on-campus outlets: The Marketplace, Barkers, The Deli, HIVE, and The Mill (Fylde Bar).
All menu items at The Marketplace are included in the dining scheme. For all other outlets, look out for the Freedom Eats logo on their menus to find out which items are covered by the scheme.

Your chosen plan will be loaded on to your University card. To pay for your food and drink, present your card and swipe it at the till point in participating outlets.
Our outlets cater for most dietary requirements and allergens. If you have specific concerns or questions, please get in touch with the Catering team at eat@lancaster.ac.uk or speak to a staff member in any of our outlets, who will be happy to assist you.
If a meal is missed, it cannot be carried over or transferred to the next day.
No, the Freedom Eats scheme does not include alcohol.
