Professor Neil Johnson
EmeritusMy research focuses on aspects of medical education. Recent work includes the measurement of teaching, the use of role modelling and analysis of the standards set for medical school end-point assessments.
Trained as a GP I became a Research Fellow in Oxford in 1990. Over time my research focused increasingly on medical education and in 1997 I moved into the management of postgraduate medical education - initially as Director of GP Education in Oxford and then as Postgraduate Medical Dean in Leicester. After a period as a Director of NHSU I moved to Warwick in 2006 where I became Professor of Medical Education in 2008 and Pro Dean in 2010. I moved to Lancaster as Dean of the Faculty of Health and Medicine in 2014.
