Develop your leadership skills and sense of entrepreneurship as you work to fix real issues with local businesses and Non-Governmental Organisations at our world leading Management School currently placed within the world’s top 100 across 4 subject areas (QS).
Through this three-week programme, you will explore relevant theories and develop your leadership skills in a variety of seminars and activities linked to the module. You will then have a chance to apply this knowledge to a live project with a local organisation.
You’ll work in small teams to develop an appreciation of sustainability and innovation, as well as engage with entrepreneurs and businesses on this highly interactive programme.
Learning outcomes
- Be able to recognise and describe the different perspectives of effective leadership
- Demonstrate the skills needed to lead more effectively in a project context
- Be able to explain the context of responsible leadership and identify a range of corporate responsibilities
- Demonstrate how sustainability innovation ideas can be developed within organisations and how these are linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
- Prepare an organisational analysis for the implementation of sustainability innovation focused solutions.
- Identify and relate insights into leadership and organisational behaviour from past situations that the students have experienced at an individual, group and organisation-wide level
Who is this course designed for?
If you’re an undergraduate student aged 18 years or over who is studying at a university outside of the UK, you could be eligible for this course. Please see the entry requirements for full details.

Week 1
You’ll explore theoretical practices and responsibilities of leadership through lectures and workshops. Field trips will help you make sense of the theories and learning from the classroom and you will begin to work in a team on a live project to explore the scope for sustainability innovation within an organisation.
Week 2
There will be lectures, workshops, field trips and project sponsor visits covering sustainability innovation and integration with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Week 3
You’ll present your recommendations to your clients on the final day in a project showcase event.

Students who complete this programme are awarded 15 LU / 4 US / 7.5 ECTS credits.
This summer school is assessed on three components:
- 50%: Individual reflective assignment of leadership lessons and sustainability innovations learned (2,500 words) completed post programme
- 40%: Group client report (4,000 words)
- 10%: Peer assessments of project showcase event
Upon completion of this summer school, you’ll receive an official transcript and earn 糖心Vlog academic credit. This will help you to stand out against the competition and enhance your future prospects.
