This British Hydrological Society (BHS) National Meeting will bring together the hydrological research community to share expertise and latest research on hydrological processes and their measurement or modelling that is pertinent to the hydrological effects of ‘NFM’ landscape interventions.

The have recently started a 4-year research programme on the effectiveness of ‘Natural Flood Management (NFM)’. Hydrologists in the UK have, however, been undertaking hydrological research pertinent to ‘NFM’ for many years. The objective of this National Meeting is, therefore, to bring together the hydrological research community to share expertise and latest research on hydrological processes and their measurement or modelling that is pertinent to the hydrological effects (positive and negative across multiple scales) of landscape interventions badged as ‘NFM’. A key aspect being to highlight the key academic challenges for the hydrologist and wider researchers, and ways that these might be addressed.

Young scientists and established researchers are welcomed, as are those commercial, charity and government practitioners and flood action groups interested in the latest approaches to quantifying the effectiveness of NFM interventions, either existing or planned. A small number of companies with pertinent tools for NFM measurement or modelling will be invited too.
